Charity Auction Alert: Match-Worn Jerseys Benefiting The Royal British Legion

by Matthew Taylor

Liverpool fans will have the unique opportunity to obtain an unrivaled fan item whilst showing their support for those who served in the UK with the purchase of match-worn and spare Nike LFC jerseys from the men's and women's teams.

You might have noticed the reemergence of the poppy on the jerseys of all the professional English soccer teams. This was implemented in 2012 and has been a yearly tradition ever since. The poppy flower is a symbol of commemoration and remembrance of the soldiers who made the sacrifice to fight for their country in the First World War.

The poppy symbol will be worn by players, managers, staff, and match officials leading up to Remembrance Day, on November 11th.

With this annual event, football clubs across the country rejoice in raising vital funding and awareness for the work of The Royal British Legion. The money raised helps provide essential support to members of the armed forces community who made a sacrifice - both physically and mentally - serving their country. The Legion is the country’s largest Armed Forces charity but is completely dependent on the generosity of the public. It is their aim to provide lifelong support for both serving and ex-serving personnel and their families.
