Welcome To Liverpool FC Dominik Szoboszlai!
Hey Reds! The 2023/24 season is inching closers and closer. With Liverpool's opening Premier League game against Chelsea being just over three weeks away, the preparations are in full swing. Strengthening the squad ahead of the upcoming season is one of the biggest priorities for Jürgen Klopp. With Alexis Mac Allister already joining the club earlier in the transfer window, the Boss has signed another top-quality midfielder in the form of Dominik Szoboszlai.
“Really historic club, really good players, good coach, everything is good. For me, it was perfect to make the next step in a club like this. The fans, the stadium, everything is really good.”

"These are proper positives and this is even before we even think about his qualities as a footballer. I will not say too much about them at this stage except they are definitely the kind which will hopefully bring a lot of enjoyment and also help us to get results."
The twenty-two-year-old was signed from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig. The Reds paid a reported fee of $77 million, which is the fourth-most expensive signing in the club's history. The Hungarian midfielder was signed to a five-year contract.
Despite Szoboszlai's young age, he has been on the radar of top European clubs for a few years now after breaking through for Austrian side RB Salzburg. Szoboszlai's impressive contributions helped them win multiple trophies in both Austria and Germany. The Hungarian is an extremely creative midfielder that is known for his eye for goal, threatening passing, and dangerous set-pieces. Szoboszlai has scored a least nine goals in each of his last six seasons. Measuring 6' 1", Dominik also offers some great physicality in the midfield. Despite only being twenty-two, Szoboszlai was named the captain of Hungary, which highlights his quality and presence.
For all you Reds wanting to add a Dominik Szoboszlai jersey to your collection, he will wear the iconic number 8 on his back. This is clearly a meaningful number for the new signing, as he is a big admirer of Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard. The Hungarian has a tattoo on his arm of a Stevie G quote that reads: “Talent is a divine blessing, but without incredible will and humility, it is worth nothing.”
If you're a bit worried about how to pronounce Szoboszlai, it's much easier than it looks! It's said as so-bow-sly.
