Welcome To LFC Darwin Núñez!
Hey Reds! The summer transfer window is in full swing! It's been a bitter-sweet one for the Reds so far. We have seen Origi and Taki leave, as well as fan-favorite Super Sadio move on to Bayern. However, it's not all doom and gloom for Reds fans! The club has acquired two promising young players in Ramsay and Carvalho. The biggest signing LFC has made so far this transfer window comes in the form of a young, tall, and strong Uruguayan striker from Benfica.
Darwin Núñez became one of the most sought after young players in the world after an outstanding season in Portugal. The young striker scored 34 goals in 41 games in the 21/22 season, including 6 goals in the Champions League! These stats are insane for any player, but even more so when you consider Darwin is just beginning his career.
Perhaps what sealed the deal for Klopp was watching Darwin's performance against his very own Reds in the quarter-final of the Champions League. Darwin was truly phenomenal in both games against Liverpool, showcasing his talents to the world!
“Darwin is a wonderful player; already really good but so much potential to get even better. That’s why it’s so exciting, to be honest. His age, his desire, his hunger to be even better than he currently is. His belief in our project and what we are looking to do as a club." - Klopp speaking about the new signing.
For all you Reds wanting to add Darwin's jersey to your collection, he will wear number 27 on his back. The new signing takes over the jersey number previously worn by club legend Divock Origi. Let's hope Darwin follows in Origi's footsteps in terms of memorable goals scored in the LFC shirt!
