Liverpool v Real Madrid: Preview
Hey Reds! The Champions League is back, and it's back at Anfield! The greatest club competition returns on Tuesday, as Liverpool welcomes Real Madrid for the first leg of their round of 16 battle! Liverpool will travel to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium on March 15th for the second leg of this matchup.
The history between Liverpool FC and Real Madrid is one of the most storied and fascinating in the world of football. The two clubs have a long and rich history of competing against each other in some of the biggest matches in European football. Both clubs are amongst the most successful in the world, with Real Madrid winning the European Cup the most amount of times, and Liverpool 3rd on the list.

The first meeting between the clubs came in the European Cup Final in 1981, which was played in Paris. The Reds emerged victorious, winning 1-0 thanks to a goal from Alan Kennedy. It was the club's third European Cup triumph, and it cemented their status as one of the best teams in Europe.
Another memorable tie against Real Madrid came in 2009, with Liverpool FC dismantling Los Blancos 5-0 on aggregate, with Fernando Torres and Stevie G running riot at Anfield! However, Real Madrid has been getting the better of Liverpool in recent times, including two heartbreaking Champions League Final losses in 2018 and 2022.
The two clubs have a long and fascinating history, marked by numerous memorable matches and iconic moments. Whether it's the Paris final in 1981, or the more recent clashes in the Champions League, Liverpool and Real Madrid have provided football fans with some unforgettable moments over the years.
