How Long Will Mo Salah Be Away From The Reds?

by Matthew Taylor

Mo Salah has been on fire this season, well, he's actually been on fire every season for the Reds, hasn't he?! Mo is the joint-leading goalscorer in the Premier League with fourteen, while also having the joint-top assists in the league, unbelievable. He now sits in the tenth position in the all-time goalscoring charts in the Premier League. It's fair to say Mo is not only one of the best players in the league but also in world football.Β

Unfortunately, for us, the Egyptian King is heading off to Ivory Coast to represent his country in the African Cup of Nations. This cup competition is held every two years. Mo's Egyptian side is the most successful nation in the competition's history with seven titles and will be amongst the favorites for this year's competition as well.

The tournament begins on January 13th and the final of the competition is February 11th, which means Salah could be away for a month! Salah is guaranteed to be away until at least the 24th of January as that is when the group stages end. After that, it is all determined by how well the Egyptian side does and how far they can go in the knockout stages. There is a potential for Salah to miss Liverpool's next 7 fixtures.Β

Reds fans are in a difficult position because as much as we'd love for Mo to do amazing and go all the way with his country, it will mean he would miss more Liverpool games.

Although we want you back as soon as possible... good luck, Mo! πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡¬πŸ‘‘
